Director’s Welcome

Welcome!

M. Danielle McDonald

I am thrilled to be serving as the inaugural Director of our newly established Glassell Family Center for Marine Biomedicine and continue with the Rosenstiel School’s legacy as a leader in oceans, environmental science, and human health. Collaboration is critical if we hope to move beyond our current understanding of the world’s most complex diseases. Bringing together scientific leaders from different fields to tackle a common human health problem can lead to synergism and result in new ideas and creative advancements. I am excited with the formation of the new Glassell Family Center for Marine Biomedicine, to be given the opportunity to connect experts from across the Rosenstiel School, the University of Miami, and beyond, and drive ground-breaking research that will serve to reshape what is currently understood about some of the most complex human health risk factors and diseases. Together, we will lead the discovery of novel marine-derived compounds, invent new models, therapies, and biotechnologies, and characterize the risks around us, developing innovative and pioneering solutions to benefit health and conquer disease.

Thank you, Dean Roni Avissar and the Glassell Family Foundation, for this incredible opportunity and for your vision.

Sincerely,

M. Danielle McDonald, Ph.D.
