Dr. Shelton’s primary research centers on cadmium, selenium, and microplastics, with additional interests in developing environmentally safe aquatic sunscreens. She utilizes a diverse array of methodologies, including behavioral assessments, social network analysis, calcium imaging, next-generation sequencing, and epigenetic studies in zebrafish. These approaches enable the discovery of novel biological mechanisms and support the advancement of new treatments and technologies.
