Dr. Solo-Gabriele is a Professor in the Department of Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering at the University of Miami where she teaches courses in water quality, environmental measurements, and engineering microbiology. Dr. Solo-Gabriele’s research has focused on evaluating the relationship between the environment and human health. Her research has spanned diverse areas including evaluating the human health impacts of metals/pesticides in the environment and evaluating human health impacts of microbial contaminants in coastal zones. Dr. Solo-Gabriele has evaluated causes of microbial pollution to coastal zones throughout the State of Florida with targeted studies in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, and St. Lucie Counties. She is currently leading research focusing on the human health impacts from Sargassum shoreline strandings.
